COJC – Council on Judicial Complaints

COJC-Logo-Horz-seal

Justice requires that the administration of our laws and Courts must meet the highest standards of independence, integrity, and impartiality. Our State Constitution, Statutes, Court Opinions and Court Rules have established rules of judicial conduct, competence, procedure, and demeanor designed to promote adherence to and public confidence in those standards.

The Council on Judicial Complaints was created by statute to receive and investigate complaints concerning the alleged misconduct of Oklahoma Judges and Judicial Officers. The Council functions independent of the Judicial Branch of Government and has investigative powers similar to a Grand Jury. When appropriate the Council can initiate a process to remedy misconduct including discipline of a judge or removal from office with a prohibition of holding future judicial office. The Council also has the authority to initiate a criminal investigation of a judicial officer by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
